enjoyed spending the recent holiday season with four teenagers. Having read the evaluations, I was concerned that the ride lines would be too lengthy; yet, most rides only required a 45 to 30-minute wait. I'm glad we went and had a great day after leaving Brisbane on the train.
January 2, 2022:
What an absolute HIDEOUS place Warner Bros Movie World turned out to be for our “fun” family day out.
Basically it cost us $99 entry fee per person and all we got for that was 1 ride (after waiting in line for excess of 2 hours) and a lame so-called Stunt Show where two local Gold Coast hoons (calling themselves stuntmen) slid and skidded around a wet track for 30 minutes in vehicles making a lot of noise and not much else (and you call that entertainment)?
To be honest I saw more exciting action (and had more fun) on the Gold Coast Highway on the way back to our Broadbeach hotel in the pouring rain.
The majority of our day (we timed it to over 8.5 hours) was spent queuing in ride lines in the scorching sun and pelting rain (cyclone Seth off the coast).
As you queue you are then informed the ride has broken down and has closed indefinitely (usually via their so-called app).
Once you leave that line to queue for another ride nearby (again with over a 60 minute wait time) the ride you were originally queuing for reopens with even bigger lines and wait times!
Feeling hungry? How about spending over $15 for a hot dog, $16 for a bucket of chips and $6 for a bottles water?
We eventually headed to the Customer Relations office to voice our disappointment where we were informed that had we purchased a Fast Pass ticket at the beginning of the day (for an extra $149 EACH no less) we could've jumped ALL the queues and got on the rides much quicker!
Talk about a rip-off up-sell.
As compensation for our bad experience we were offered free passes to come back for another day of “fun” (more like torture and to get ripped off more money again). This was an absolutely useless offer as we were flying back to Sydney the next morning!
We were then offered Fast Passes to get us on 3 rides before the park closed at 6pm (in less than 1 hour). No thanks, we were literally drained of all energy (and cash) by that stage.
What we actually wanted was a refund (or part thereof) which we were told we couldn't get because all online transactions are done via another company (yet another lame “state it by the book” excuse).
Um, you're Warner Bros Movie World. You now have all our money in your bank account not to mention all the cash you stole from us via crap food venues!
Also, another thing we noticed is that you were part-filling ride carriages claiming to be caring and legally "social distancing" yet you crammed as many people through the turnstiles at the beginning of the day and packed ride queues to capacity with not much thought to social distancing at all.
KA-CHING!
Basically dear Movie World you are just another evil, money hungry corporation interested in profit rather than people!
Sadly that seems to be the norm these days.
Advice to anyone thinking of going to Movie World on the Gold Coast - FORGET IT!
The USA do theme parks much better.
For the amount you'd waste here at Movie World, you could probably finance a trip to the US and do Disneyland and/or Universal Studios instead … now THEY are theme parks worth visiting!
Go elsewhere people … maybe try Dreamworld instead (I wish we did). At least they have more rides.

It is robbery. $120 dollars to get in. Rides not open. 3 hour waits in queue. We spent all day in queue for 2 rides. Will be contacting consumer affairs. Got lots of phot and video evidence. We interviewed people and there families. They must cap the amount of people they let it in or the park does not work. Movie World just takes your hard earned money. Do not go at Easter. If they do not refund we will take it too court. Advertise all our material gathered on as many platforms as possible to warn people for future years to not even consider it.
So disappointing to take my family to Movie World out of peak time to discover sides not working and low staff numbers making rides unavailable at all times during our visit. The queues were lengthy due to the number of rides open for short periods of times due to the staff on hand. For the money we paid this is poor trading practice. We would not recommend to anyone to visit Movieworld or Wet N Wo;ld for these reasons. Rides were not operating due to maintenance however it was due to staffing. Very disappointing and should be at a reduced rate in off peak season if this is what the parks are going to offer patrons.
